Researchers at a university in Sweden have discovered that men and women who were aged 40-80 and owned dogs for over 12 years had a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease! Also, they were at far less of a risk of death from other causes. Another major benefit observed was for people who live alone. People who live with dogs have a 33% reduced risk of death and 11% less chance of developing cardiovascular disease than those who lived alone without a dog.

It has also been observed by other studies that growing up in a house that contains a dog can have massive benefits for the immune system. Dog owners also have less stress and faster recovery of blood pressure after stressful events!

One veterinarian stated that taking care of a dog prompts people to live a more active and happy lifestyle! Many owners are convinced that their pets are crucial to their social lives. One key aspect of this can be observed when walking outside on a rainy day, most people you will bump into in certain areas are dog walkers!
